        "content": "<p>RI can deal with terrorism: U.S.<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: U.S. Ambassador Ralph L. Boyce expressed confidence<br>\non Thursday that the Indonesian government was able to handle<br>\nthose &quot;outsiders entering the country&quot; whose interests may pose a<br>\nthreat to national security.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking after a meeting with Minister of Justice and<br>\nHuman Rights Yusril Ihza Mahendra at the latter&apos;s office.<\/p>\n<p>The statement was issued after a number of arrests were made<br>\nof foreigners believed to be allegedly involved in espionage or<br>\nhaving reported links with the international terrorist group al-<br>\nQaeda, which is blamed for the terrorist attacks against the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Boyce had participated in a round of meetings with leaders of<br>\nMuslim organizations amid a call made by the ulemas on the<br>\ngovernment&apos;s unclear approach to terrorism, as part of the<br>\nworldwide campaign led by the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Boyce refused to elaborate on the contents of the meeting with<br>\nYusril, saying that terrorist-related information was also<br>\nincluded in their discussion &quot;of which (the objective) is mainly<br>\nto keep the communication line open&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Yusril said that Boyce was interested with the arrest<br>\nof Omar al-Faruq, an alleged terrorist apprehended in West Java<br>\nlast June, who, according to a Time magazine report, was turned<br>\nover to American authorities. --JP<\/p>",
