RI-Australia leaders to meet in Bali<\/p>\n

Business and political leaders will gather in Bali next week
\nfor a conference jointly hosted by the Indonesia Australia
\nBusiness Council (IABC) and its sister organization in Australia,
\naccording to the IABC.<\/p>\n
Topping the list of speakers at the conference, which has not
\nbeen held for four years, is Indonesia's Coordinating Minister
\nfor the Economy Dorodjatun Kuntjoro.<\/p>\n
\"The minister has perhaps been reluctant to address public
\ngatherings in the past, but confirmed his attendance saying the
\nevent was 'very important',\" the IABC said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The conference, titled Indonesia: The Horizon Beyond, aims to
\naddress the immediate issues and long-term goals faced by
\ndomestic and foreign businesspeople in the archipelago. The
\nconcept was inspired by prominent Indonesian businessman Julius
\nTahija.<\/p>\n
IABC president Noke Kiroyan said the resumption of the
\nconference demonstrated that investors remained interested in
\nbusiness opportunities in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\"Hopefully, events such as this conference will facilitate
\ninvestment in Indonesia and show that the government is making
\nthe necessary reforms to attract capital,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Political and Security
\nAffairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will also speak at the
\nconference along with the country's Minister for Industry and
\nTrade Rini M. Soewandi.<\/p>\n
The three-day conference at the Bali International Convention
\nCenter, starting on March 13, will also feature speakers from the
\nIABC's sister organization, the Australia Indonesia Business
\nCouncil.<\/p>\n
The Australian Minister for Trade Mark Vaile has confirmed his
\nattendance.<\/p>\n
A session on regional autonomy will be addressed by Ryaas
\nRasyid from the Indonesian Society of Government Studies, Andi
\nMallarangeng from the Partnership for Governance Reform and Kevin
\nEvans from the UNDP.<\/p>\n
Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chairman Theo Toemion
\nwill give an update on regulatory moves to protect and enhance
\nforeign investment.<\/p>\n
Former presidential spokesperson Wimar Witoelar, who is to
\ntake up a lecturing appointment in Australia, will deliver the
\nafter dinner speech on the second day.<\/p>",
