RI asked to distance from IMF and U.S.<\/p>\n
BAGHDAD (AFP): Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is calling on
\nIndonesia to distance itself from the United States and from the
\nInternational Monetary Fund, which he called an "American-Zionist
\ntrap".<\/p>\n
"You should distance yourself from the United States," Saddam
\ntold visiting Minister of Industry and Trade Luhut Pandjaitan,
\nwho arrived in Iraq on Tuesday as head of a delegation studying
\nways of expanding economic cooperation with Iraq.<\/p>\n
"You should not expect any aid from those who have targeted
\nyour economy and continue to act against your national
\nintegrity," the official news agency INA quoted him as saying on
\nThursday.<\/p>\n
"You know that the economy and money constitute one of the
\npillars of Zionism (and) the IMF is no more than an American-
\nZionist trap to exploit and weaken people," he added.<\/p>\n
Instead, Saddam called on Indonesia to find aid at home, as
\nwell as from truly friendly countries who are concerned for
\nIndonesia's unity and are interested in it being strong.<\/p>\n
In that context, he said Iraq was "disposed to cooperate" with
\nIndonesia on both the economic and political levels.<\/p>",
