        "content": "<p>Review requests rejected<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The Constitutional Court stated on Thursday that it<br>\nwould not review Law No. 23\/2003 on the presidential election<br>\nbecause the plaintiffs were not affected by the law and thus were<br>\nnot legally in a position to file a complaint.<\/p>\n<p>According to the court, the group of people -- activist Fathul<br>\nHadie Ustman, lecturers Mursyidah Thohir and Hamdanah, private<br>\ncompany employee Swandoko Soewono and civil servant Thohir Afandi<br>\n-- were not eligible to file the request because their<br>\nconstitutional rights were not being directly violated by the<br>\nlaw.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs have alleged that Article 5 paragraph 3 and<br>\nArticle 4 -- which deals with the registration of presidential<br>\nand vice presidential nominees and the presidential election<br>\nschedule -- contradicted the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The articles say that presidential and vice presidential<br>\ncandidates must be named by a political party or coalition before<br>\nthe legislative election.<\/p>\n<p>They also argued that the separation of the legislative and<br>\npresidential elections is prone to conflicts. -- JP<\/p>",
