        "content": "<p>REUTERS;HHR;<br>\nANPAi..u..<br>\nAglance-RP-Imelda-return<br>\nImelda Marcos makes tearful return<br>\nJP\/11\/J03<\/p>\n<p>Imelda Marcos makes tearful return<\/p>\n<p>PHILIPPINES: Tearful, lame, but unbowed, Imelda Marcos said on<br>\nThursday that she loved her country and would never run away, as<br>\ngovernment lawyers tried to have the former first lady arrested<br>\nfor returning late from a foreign trip.<\/p>\n<p>Marcos flew back to the Philippines from London on Wednesday,<br>\novershooting by 10 days a deadline set by a graft court that is<br>\ntrying her on corruption charges related to late dictator<br>\nFerdinand Marcos's two-decade rule.<\/p>\n<p>The court had granted her a 30-day travel permit to visit the<br>\nUnited States and Europe on medical and religious grounds, but<br>\nsome newspapers reported she had been spotted in Italy quaffing<br>\nwine in restaurants and shopping for luxury goods.<\/p>\n<p>Marcos, whose powers of persuasion are as legendary as her<br>\nenormous shoe collection, said the last leg of her trip in<br>\nBritain had been necessary because eye experts treating her are<br>\nbased there.<\/p>\n<p>\"This has been the most harassed and stressful trip of my<br>\nlife,\" she told reporters after limping out of court.<\/p>\n<p>\"They have taken everything from the Marcoses,\" she said.<br>\n\"They want conviction for life imprisonment, now they want<br>\nconviction for my eyesight.\" -- Reuters<\/p>",
