The Head of the Bogor Regency Manpower Office, Nana Mulyana, anticipates an influx of new job seekers during this year's Lebaran return flow, as returnees often bring along friends or family to seek employment opportunities. This surge is expected to heighten competition in the local job market, particularly due to Bogor's relatively high minimum wage of Rp 5.1 million, which attracts workers despite some companies relocating to areas with lower wages. To address this, the local government plans to enhance the skills of Bogor residents to better match industry needs, while emphasising the importance of resilience and perseverance among job seekers amid limited opportunities.

The Head of the Bogor Regency Manpower Office, Nana Mulyana,
estimates that there will be an addition of new job seekers along with
this year’s Lebaran return flow. This usually happens because long-time
returnees like to bring friends or family members to look for work.

Nana stated that this will increase competition in job hunting in
Bogor. Moreover, at present, Bogor is targeted by job seekers due to
considerations of the Regency Minimum Wage (UMK).

“Actually, there are many job opportunities in their home areas,
because our data shows that several companies have moved from Bogor to
regions with lower UMK. So, Bogor’s UMK, which reaches Rp 5.1 million,
becomes one of the reasons they become job seekers here,” said Nana to
Tempo on Friday, 27 March 2026.

Furthermore, Nana revealed that the Manpower Office cannot prohibit
residents from outside Bogor from seeking work in Bogor Regency. Because
that is a human right and there is no regulation governing it.

What the local government can do, said Nana, is to add skills or
expertise to job seekers from or who are residents of Bogor Regency. “We
cannot prohibit residents from outside Bogor from seeking work in Bogor
Regency; at most, we strive for job seekers from Bogor Regency to have
better skills that match the existing job needs or industry.”

Not only that, Nana hopes that the workforce from Bogor Regency has a
strong mentality or is work-ready. Because the number of job
opportunities in Bogor Regency is not comparable to the number of job
seekers.

“So for job seekers, they must realise that job opportunities are now
very difficult. If they already have a job, don’t let it go easily if
there are obstacles in the work environment. We must have a resilient
mentality and high fighting spirit,” said Nana.
",
