        "content": "<p>Residents want gas station closed<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Residents of Kramat Sentiong subdistrict, Central<br>\nJakarta, demanded Wednesday the closure of a gas station which<br>\nthey accused had polluted the neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Over 60 residents staged their protests at the Central Jakarta<br>\nmunicipality office over their polluted ground water.<\/p>\n<p>They said the water had made them suffering skin problems,<br>\nnausea, headaches and respiratory problems.<\/p>\n<p>They insisted the administration to order the state gas and<br>\noil company Pertamina to close the gas station.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the protesters were seen carrying banners, some were<br>\nread: \"We are killed by Pertamina\".<\/p>\n<p>One of the protesters, Arnold Arif, said that although the<br>\nseepage of fuel had contaminated their ground water over one year<br>\nnow, Pertamina had turned a deaf ear toward their call.<\/p>\n<p>The residents demanded Pertamina to pay Rp 10 million<br>\n(US$1,176) in compensation and to build water installation for<br>\naround 3,000 residents. -- JP<\/p>",
