Residents in East Jakarta are pressing the DKI Provincial Government to promptly clear a massive rubbish pile on Rawa Bebek Road in Pulogebang, which is causing hazards and inconvenience to motorists despite not being near residential areas. Local drivers like Agus and Ridwan from nearby regions complain about the stench, scattered plastics, and risks of accidents, urging action before the issue escalates on social media. The accumulation, reaching up to three metres high and spilling onto the road, highlights ongoing waste management challenges in the capital's border areas, with authorities yet to respond.

JAKARTA - Agus (40), a resident of Ujung Menteng, is urging the DKI
Provincial Government to immediately address the pile of rubbish on Rawa
Bebek Road, Pulogebang Ward, Cakung District, East Jakarta.

Although the location is not near residential areas, the rubbish
condition severely disrupts passing motorists.

“Yes, if possible, handle it immediately; don’t wait until it goes
viral on social media before everyone panics. It should make motorists
comfortable too,” said Agus when met near the location on Thursday
(9/4/2026).

“It’s nice here with lots of trees because it’s beside the BKT.
Actually, I pass through here to cut through from Ujung Menteng. But I’m
afraid to pass because the plastic rubbish and water can cause motorists
to fall,” Agus explained.

Similar complaints were voiced by Ridwan (27), a Bekasi resident who
often passes through Rawa Bebek Road to get to his office in the Tebet
area.

“I take this route to cut through when it’s not congested, but it
smells when passing the TPS because the rubbish is piled up so much,”
Ridwan stated.

“I don’t know the cause, but I hope it can be tidied up. Even though
it’s not near settlements, if the rubbish reaches the road, it’s
unpleasant, especially in the mornings when it’s busy and not just
Jakarta residents, as this is a border area,” Ridwan added.

Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the site, the rubbish appears
to be piled up to a height of about two to three metres and spilling
onto the roadside.

Although it does not completely block Rawa Bebek Road, the area
around the 3R TPS is filled with scattered plastic rubbish extending
several metres from the location.

Several passing vehicles were seen slowing down due to carts and
rubbish trucks preparing to unload or collect waste.

Kompas.com has contacted the Head of Environmental Control for Cakung
District, Encep, regarding the rubbish handling, but no response has
been received as of yet.
",
