A building used to store decorative equipment and a workshop on Jalan\nSiulan, Gang Nusa Indah, East Denpasar, Denpasar City, caught fire on\nTuesday afternoon (15\/9\/2026). The blaze lasted around two hours before\nbeing extinguished at about 5.30pm local time.<\/p>\n
The fire drew the attention of residents, as the sound of fireworks\nexploding inside the house that triggered the fire was very loud. One\nresident living behind the scene, Nyoman Ari (52), heard several\nexplosions before the fire grew larger.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just so happened we had just woken up. We don\u2019t know how it\nstarted, but what we heard were explosions, then we rushed over,\u201d said\nAri when met at the scene.<\/p>\n
After the fire grew, he helped to extinguish the flames using a hose\nfrom his house. He was even willing to climb onto the roof to assist\nwith the firefighting effort.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe happened to climb up from that house, the one next door, and got\non top of it before the fire brigade arrived. Eventually one of the\nresidents called the fire brigade and they came,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He was not certain, however, exactly which building had been storing\nthe fireworks.<\/p>\n
The head of the Denpasar City Fire and Rescue Service, I Made Tirana,\nsaid two people suffered burns in the incident. One victim sustained\nminor burns, while the other had to be rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were two burn victims. One had burns only on the leg and has\nalready been discharged. The other one I didn\u2019t get to see, as they were\nquickly taken to hospital,\u201d Tirana said at the scene.<\/p>\n
His office has not yet been able to confirm the cause of the fire.\nHowever, the firefighting effort was hampered by fireworks exploding\ncontinuously throughout the operation. The fireworks are suspected of\nhaving caused the workshop across the street to catch fire as well.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the police are still investigating the cause of the blaze,\nand both scenes have now been cordoned off with police lines.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs for obstacles, the only issue was the explosions earlier. But we\nmanaged to overcome them by continuing to spray water until everything\ncooled down. There were a great many explosions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
