Residents protest over flood<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: About 150 residents from the Periuk Damai Sejahtera
\nII housing complex in Periuk District, Tangerang, staged a rally
\nin front of the complex developer's office on Friday, demanding
\nthe company take immediate steps to cope with floods still
\ninundating their homes.<\/p>\n
"We want the flood water to recede soon and the developer is
\nresponsible for coping with the flood water," Rosidi, 59, a
\nresident living in Block D of the housing complex, which is part
\nof the Mutiara Pluit housing estate, said.<\/p>\n
A representative of the developer's office refused to meet the
\nprotesters.<\/p>\n
The residents vowed to return on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Heavy rains which struck Tangerang on Thursday night flooded
\n176 houses in the complex, with the water reaching 1.5 meters.
\nThe water had not receded by Friday morning.<\/p>\n
The flood waters were still also inundating other residential
\ncomplexes in Pasar Kemis, Jatiuwung and Periuk districts, with
\nthe water reaching 1.25 meters.<\/p>\n
Among the flooded complexes were Vila Tangerang Regensi in
\nPasar Kemis district; Total Persada, Alam Jaya, Purati and Taman
\nCibodas in Jatiuwung district; Vila Mutiara Pluit, Gebang and
\nPeriuk Jaya in Periuk district.--JP<\/p>",
