        "content": "<p>Residents protest housing complex<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Around 100 residents of Tugu Selatan in North Jakarta<br>\nstaged on Wednesday to protest the existence of the Villa Permata<br>\nGading housing complex, which they accused of having caused<br>\nfloods in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Since its establishment in 1995, residential homes in the area<br>\nwere always flooded, said the protesters.<\/p>\n<p>\"Every year, my house always floods, but that never happened<br>\nbefore (the complex was built),\" Aminah of the RT4 neighborhood<br>\nunit was quoted as saying by Antara. She claimed to have been<br>\nliving in the area for the past 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters demanded the city administration to revoke the<br>\nbusiness license of its developer, PT Multiduta Parama Centra,<br>\nfor ignoring to conduct the obligatory environmental impact<br>\nassessment before developing the housing complex.<\/p>\n<p>They also demanded PT Multiduta to cover all damages and<br>\nlosses due to the flooding, and to fund the construction of a<br>\nwater channel to resolve the flood problem. -- JP<\/p>",
