Residents destroy guard posts<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: Some 300 residents of Bonar village, Balaraja
\ndistrict, Tangerang regency, went on the rampage and destroyed 10
\nsecurity guard posts here late on Thursday in retaliation at a
\nprovocative statement issued by a supporter of elected village
\nchief Idil Samsidi.<\/p>\n
Balaraja Police chief Adj. Comr. Risnanto said on Friday that
\ntheir anger had been sparked by a statement of one of Idil's
\nsupporters, identified as Jalil, who told Gandi, a supporter of
\nSamsudin, a candidate who lost in the election to Idil, that
\nSamsudin's supporters could come to Idil's house only if they
\nbrought oranges along with them as gifts.<\/p>\n
"Gandi was apparently offended by Jalil's statement and told
\nother Samsudin's supporters who then agreed to attack Jalil,"
\nRisnanto said.<\/p>\n
But since Samsudin's supporters failed to find Jalil, they
\nthen destroyed all guard posts in the village, he added.<\/p>\n
"We have detained several villagers for questioning," said the
