Residents demand public facilities<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: Dozens of residents living at Alam Sutra housing
\nestate in Tangerang regency asked on Wednesday for the
\nconstruction of public facilities, as so far there are none in
\nthe complex.<\/p>\n
\"We need a mosque for Friday prayers and Taraweh prayers
\nduring the fasting month of Ramadhan, a church and medical
\nclinic,\" said Sriyani, a resident who lives in the housing
\nestate.<\/p>\n
She said that since the housing estate was opened in 1995,
\nPT Alfa Goldland Realty, the housing developer, had promised to
\nprovide those facilities for them, \"but as of today, there are
\nno signs that residents would have them.\"<\/p>\n
Herbudi, another resident, said that once residents built a
\ntemporary mosque using a wedding tent near a minimarket, but it
\nwas dismantled by the developer without consulting them.<\/p>\n
He said residents had repeatedly filed requests for
\npublic facilities to the developer but to no avail.<\/p>\n
\"Frankly, we are very disappointed since the developer has not
\nacted on its promise,\" he added.<\/p>\n
In response to the residents' complaints, Alam Sutra spokesman
\nEmil Syarief said that the management had met with community unit
\nchiefs and residents to discuss their demands.<\/p>\n
\"The problem is settled. We will build a mosque and a church
\nsoon,\" he said.--JP<\/p>",
