        "content": "<p>A joint search and rescue (SAR) team has successfully located the\nbody of the victim who fell from a pompong boat in the waters of Rupat\nStrait, Dumai City, Riau. The victim was found in a deceased condition\non the third day of the search, Thursday (21 May 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Pekanbaru Basarnas Office for Search and Rescue (Class\nA), Budi Cahyadi, confirmed that the victim was identified as Agustinus\nLaia (30), a man from Tuhemberua, Lolomatua District, South Nias\nRegency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe victim was found at 11:52 WIB in a deceased state. The discovery\nlocation is at coordinates 1\u00b042\u201945\u201d N 101\u00b038\u201944\u201d E, about 6 Nautical\nMiles (NM) northeast of the initial search location (LKP),\u201d he said in\nan official statement on Thursday (21 May).<\/p>\n<p>The incident began on Tuesday (19 May) around 11:10 WIB. At that\ntime, Pekanbaru SAR received a report from Lanal Dumai member, Serma\nKhadirin, about a passenger on a pompong boat who was thought to have\nfallen into the sea.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred as the vessel was moving from Wilmar Pelintung\nPort to Pelindo Dumai Port. In response to the report, USS Dumai Rescue\nTeam along with other combined SAR elements were deployed to the\nlocation to carry out a sweep.<\/p>\n<p>The search lasted three consecutive days, employing a parallel sweep\npattern around the Rupat Strait waters. The teams involved included\nBasarnas, the Indonesian Navy (Lanal Dumai), the Police, and other\nrelated agencies.<\/p>\n<p>After the body was located, Agustinus Laia\u2019s body was immediately\nevacuated by the joint team and taken to RSUD Dumai for further\nprocessing. With the victim found, Basarnas proposed closing the search\noperation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SAR operation is proposed to be closed at 12:45 WIB. All\ninvolved units have returned to their respective commands.
