        "content": "<p>REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG \u2013 Muhammad Adimas Firdaus, also known as\nResbob, the suspect in the hate speech case against the Sundanese ethnic\ngroup, attended his first court hearing at the Bandung District Court on\nMonday (23 February 2026). The hearing agenda was the reading of the\nindictment, led by the presiding judge, Lingga Setiawan.<\/p>\n<p>As observed, Resbob was escorted by police officers and prosecutors\nto courtroom 2 of the Bandung District Court. The hearing began around\n12:26 PM local time, and the courtroom was filled with media\nrepresentatives.<\/p>\n<p>Rika Fitrianirmala, the public prosecutor from the Bandung\nProsecutor\u2019s Office, began reading the indictment after being given\npermission by the presiding judge. The prosecutor stated that on Monday,\n8 December 2025, Adimas Firdaus, also known as Resbob, committed a\ncriminal act by broadcasting, displaying, or posting writings or images\nthat were visible to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr by broadcasting recordings that could be heard by the public or\ndisseminating them using information technology, containing statements\nof hostility with the intention that the content be known or more widely\nknown by the public, against one or more groups or communities in\nIndonesia based on race, nationality, ethnicity, skin colour, mental\ndisability, or physical disability, and resulting in violence against\npeople or property,\u201d she said while reading the indictment.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that Resbob, who was at his boarding house in\nSurabaya with two of his friends, was driving a car while live-streaming\nusing his mobile phone. They also bought a bottle of alcoholic\nbeverage.<\/p>\n<p>She said that the three of them went together to a haunted house\nattraction while drinking the alcoholic beverage. Resbob was driving the\ncar, and his two friends were sitting in the passenger seats while\nlive-streaming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the live stream on his mobile phone, Resbob said the words \u2018Bonek\nViking are the same, but only Viking are the bastards, basically all\nSundanese are bastards, all Sundanese people are bastards\u2019 on his\nYouTube account <span class=\"citation\" data-cites=\"panggilajabob\">@panggilajabob<\/span>,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that Resbob was in a conscious state, although\nunder the influence of alcohol, while driving the car and making the\nstatement, so that it would be known by the public, with up to 200\npeople watching. It is known that Resbob\u2019s background is that he is a\nsupporter of Persija.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese words have been known by the public, causing feelings of\nhostility towards one or more groups or communities in Indonesia based\non ethnicity, especially among the Sundanese ethnic group,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that the defendant, Muhammad Adimas Firdaus, also\nknown as Resbob, was charged under Article 243, paragraph (1) of Law\nNo.\u00a01 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article\n243, paragraph (1) of Law No.\u00a01 of 2026 concerning Amendments to\nCriminal Law. The maximum penalty is four years in prison.<\/p>",
