        "content": "<p>Bandung, VIVA \u2013 Muhammad Adimas Firdaus Putra Nashihan, also known as\nResbob, the defendant in an alleged hate speech case targeting the\nSundanese ethnic group and supporters of football club Persib Bandung,\nbegan his first hearing at Bandung District Court on Monday afternoon.\nThe opening session was dedicated to the reading of charges by the\npublic prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>The courtroom was packed as the defendant entered. A number of\nattendees at Bandung District Court were heard shouting at Resbob as he\nmade his way to the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>In the indictment, prosecutors outlined the chronology of the alleged\noffence. It was stated that at the time of the incident, the defendant\nwas in his rented accommodation in the Dukuh Kupang area of Surabaya. He\nwas then collected by two associates, Aleandro Ishak Bagaskara and\nJonathan Frodo Octavianus, in a car belonging to Jonathan.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged that after being picked up, the defendant\nconducted a livestream on social media containing hate speech directed\nat the Sundanese ethnic group and Persib Bandung supporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor his actions, the defendant has been charged with violating\nprovisions of the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law\nrelating to the dissemination of information that incites hatred or\nhostility based on ethnicity, religion, race and inter-group relations\n(SARA),\u201d said public prosecutor Sukanda of the West Java High\nProsecutorial Office at Bandung District Court on Monday, 23 February\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the defendant\u2019s legal counsel, Fidelis Giawa, stated that\nhe would mount a legal challenge against the charges brought against his\nclient at Bandung District Court.<\/p>\n<p>According to Fidelis, the locus of the incident was not in Bandung\nbut in Surabaya.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will certainly mount a legal challenge. Our client should not be\ntried at Bandung District Court but rather in Surabaya, in accordance\nwith the locus of the incident,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The trial will continue next week with the hearing of the defence\u2019s\nexception or objection note.<\/p>",
