Rerouted traffic in Kota<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): In an attempt to reduce traffic jams in the
\ndowntown Kota area of West Jakarta, the City Traffic and Land
\nTransportation Agency will change the traffic arrangements at the
\nintersection near Kota railway station in early September, an
\nofficial said on Monday.<\/p>\n
Kota railway intersection consists of Jl. Asemka in the west,
\nJl. Pintu Besar Utara in the north, Jl. Pintu Besar Selatan in
\nthe south, and Jl. Jembatan Batu in the east.<\/p>\n
\"Motorists from Jl. Pintu Besar Selatan heading to Jl. Mangga
\nDua can make a right turn instead of making the turn through the
\none-way Jl. Pintu Besar Utara and Jl. Stasion Kota, as regulated
\nin the current pattern,\" the agency's head Buyung Atang said in a
\nwritten statement.<\/p>\n
\"The agency will also reduce traffic conflicts in the Kota
\nintersection by using new traffic light sequences,\" he added.<\/p>\n
The current pattern causes overcrowding on Jl. Stasion Kota as
\nall vehicles from the south heading to Jl. Mangga Dua have to
\npass through this street.<\/p>\n
In the new traffic light sequences, its first phase will allow
\nvehicles from Jl. Pintu Besar Selatan to either go through Jl.
\nPintu Besar Utara or take a right turn into Jl. Jembatan Batu.<\/p>\n
In the next phase, motorists heading south from Jl. Stasion
\nKota can either go south through Jl. Pintu Besar Selatan or take
\na right turn to Jl. Asemka.<\/p>\n
Finally, motorists from Jl. Jembatan Batu can choose to go
\nwest to Jl. Asemka or take a right turn into Jl. Pintu Besar
\nUtara. At the same time, motorists from Jl. Asemka can also make
\na left turn into Jl. Pintu Besar Utara.<\/p>\n
\"We also request all motorists to obey the new traffic signs
\nand directions given by our field officials,\" Buyung concluded in
