Two journalists from Republika have been reported as arrested by\nIsraeli soldiers in international waters while covering a humanitarian\nmission with the Global Sumud Flotilla in mid-May. The two journalists\ntargeted by the Israeli military interception are Bambang Noroyono and\nThoudy Badai.<\/p>\n
This was confirmed by the Editor-in-Chief of Republika, Andi\nMuhyiddin, who expressed strong condemnation of the Israeli military\u2019s\nactions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis action is a serious violation of international law, universal\nhumanitarian principles, and the civil liberties of global citizens\ndelivering aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza,\u201d Andi stated in a\nwritten statement on Monday, 18 May 2026.<\/p>\n
He noted that his two journalists departed alongside several other\nIndonesian volunteers. The group of nine volunteers was engaged in both\nhumanitarian duties and journalistic coverage.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe volunteers did not arrive carrying weapons, but rather\nsolidarity, medicines, logistical aid, and the voice of the world\u2019s\nconscience for the Palestinian civilians,\u201d said Andi.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that this humanitarian and reporting mission is vital\nin resisting the blockade, famine, and continuous aggression faced by\nPalestinians due to Israel. \u201cWe stand with the world\u2019s humanitarian\nvolunteers.
