Remove anti-graft bottlenecks<\/p>\n

Corruption in Indonesia has developed like a malignant tumor,
\nhence its elimination requires strong determination on the part
\nof all law enforcement agencies in order to deal with not only
\nminor cases but also major graft practices.<\/p>\n
The government has issued a presidential instruction
\nauthorizing the Corruption Eradication Commission to take anti-
\ngraft measures, but many constraints have impeded the effort.<\/p>\n
For the removal of such bottlenecks, the government will issue
\na regulation in lieu of law to penetrate all the procedural
\nbarriers standing in the way of investigation and trial.<\/p>\n
According to Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Sudono
\nIswahyudi, the regulation will do away with the need for approval
\nfor the examination of public officials from executive and
\nlegislative institutions as suspects.<\/p>\n
In addition, the regulation will make it difficult for the
\nprosecutor's office to release or suspend the detention of a
\nsuspect under investigation, and for the judge to suspend the
\ndetention of a defendant under trial.<\/p>\n
In the case of the judge granting a suspended detention, a
\nspecial law enforcement unit has to be assigned to keep the
\ndefendant under constant surveillance so that there is no chance
\nof escape.<\/p>\n
With this regulation, all big-shot corruptors in the country
\nwill hopefully be taken to court and public funds can be saved
\nfor people's welfare.<\/p>\n
