He once served as\nMinister of Defence during the presidencies of Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus\nDur) and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), as well as Minister of State\nfor the Environment in Soeharto\u2019s Seventh Development Cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>Juwono passed away at 1.45pm WIB at RSPI Pondok Indah in Jakarta. The\nlate Juwono is scheduled to be buried at the Heroes\u2019 Cemetery (TMP)\nKalibata in South Jakarta on Sunday (29\/3).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCorrect, Mr Juwono Sudarsono has indeed passed away,\u201d said Brigadier\nGeneral Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of Information for the Ministry of\nDefence\u2019s Secretariat General, when contacted on Saturday\n(28\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Profile of Juwono<\/p>\n<p>Compiled by detikcom from the Ministry of Defence website, Antara,\nand the non-profit AMINEF foundation website, Juwono was born on 5 March\n1942 in Ciamis, West Java. Juwono was the son of Dr Sudarsono, who\nserved as Minister of Social Affairs when Indonesia had just gained\nindependence.<\/p>\n<p>Juwono pursued his bachelor\u2019s degree at Universitas Indonesia. He\nstudied for his master\u2019s degree at The University of California at\nBerkeley in the United States and obtained his PhD at The London School\nof Economics in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>Juwono himself once served as Dean of the Faculty of Social and\nPolitical Sciences at Universitas Indonesia. He also taught at Columbia\nUniversity in New York from 1986 to 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Juwono\u2019s career in politics was quite illustrious. He became a\nminister during the eras of Presidents Soeharto, B.J. Habibie, Gus Dur,\nand SBY.
