Users are\nurged not to answer calls from unknown numbers indiscriminately,\nespecially those exhibiting suspicious patterns.<\/p>\n<p>Following a demonstration at the I\/O 2024 event in May, Google has\nfinally released the real-time Scam Detection feature for phone calls on\nPixel mobiles.<\/p>\n<p>Scam Detection listens for conversation patterns commonly associated\nwith scams.<\/p>\n<p>Once identified as a potential scammer, the feature will prompt the\nuser to check their phone with a visual warning indicating a possible\nscam, such as \u201cSuspicious activity detected for this call,\u201d accompanied\nby an \u201cEnd call\u201d button or the option to mark it as \u201cNot a scam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For example, if the caller claims to be from a bank and urges the\nuser to transfer funds immediately due to an alleged account violation,\nScam Detection will process the call to determine if it is likely a\nscam.<\/p>\n<p>On the Pixel 9 series, Scam Detection is powered by Gemini Nano. This\nsecurity feature is also available on Pixel 6-8a thanks to \u201cGoogle\u2019s\nrobust on-device machine learning models.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Google states that \u201cno audio or conversation transcripts are stored\non the device.
