The President warned people active in<br>\nreligious propagation not to mix their activities with politics.<\/p>\n<p>The President (third from right) told participants of the 4th<br>\ncongress of Majlis Dakwah Islamiyah, a Golkar-oriented Islamic<br>\nmissionary organization, that if their activities are mixed with<br>\npolitics, certain groups will use the opportunities for their own<br>\nends.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday's opening ceremony, which was attended by Majlis<br>\nchairman A. Kunaefi (fifth from right) as well as several<br>\ngovernment officials, including Minister of Religious Affairs<br>\nTarmizi Taher (fourth from right), took place at the Bina Graha<br>\npresidential office.<\/p>\n<p>Soeharto said the negative impacts of mixing religion and<br>\npolitics includes possible antagonism among followers of<br>\ndifferent religions in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The congress will discuss religious propagation for national<br>\ndevelopment.
