        "content": "<p>Religious harmony law<\/p>\n<p>From Koran Tempo<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia's pluralistic society badly needs a law on religious<br>\nharmony because the existing rules on coexistence among religious<br>\ngroups impose no penalties, which has led to serious communal<br>\nconflicts.<\/p>\n<p>The regulations governing this aspect of national life are<br>\nstill in the form of decrees from the Minister of Religious<br>\nAffairs and joint decrees from the Minister of Religious Affairs<br>\nand the Minister of Home Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>A law would raise the status of such regulations and the<br>\nimposition of penalties will increase the force of the law.<br>\nPenalties would deter belligerent groups from resorting to<br>\nburning buildings of worship.<\/p>\n<p>The formulation of this law should be discussed with an open<br>\nmind and without negative prejudice.
