        "content": "<p>The Head of the Papua Regional Office of the Religious Affairs\nMinistry (Kemenag), Klemens Taran, launched the Traveller-Friendly\nMosque programme in Sentani, Jayapura District on Wednesday (11 March\n2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Traveller-Friendly Mosque programme represents the commitment of\nIndonesia\u2019s Religious Affairs Ministry in providing services to the\ncommunity ahead of Eid al-Fitr,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Eid al-Fitr is always associated with the tradition\nof mudik (homecoming), in which people travel home to their hometowns to\nreunite with family.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the geographical conditions in Papua Province present\nunique challenges, making homecoming journeys require special attention\nto ensure they proceed safely, comfortably, and smoothly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, we need to ensure that journeys are not only safe, but\nalso comfortable and smooth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Through this programme, he hoped that mosques would function not only\nas places of worship, but also as centres of social service for\ncommunities undertaking homecoming journeys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe programme is also open to anyone passing through who needs a\nplace to rest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Through this initiative, Kemenag hopes that the Eid homecoming\njourneys this year can take place more pleasantly, safely, and\ncomfortably for people travelling through the Papua region.<\/p>",
