Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar accepted the use of a\nprivate jet provided by businessman and politician Oesman Sapta Odang\n(OSO) when inaugurating the Balai Sarkiah building in Takalar Regency on\nSunday, 15 February 2026. Nasaruddin\u2019s attendance was at the direct\ninvitation of OSO.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr OSO specifically invited and expressed his hope that the Balai\nSarkiah would be inaugurated by the Religious Affairs Minister. Mr OSO\ntook the initiative to arrange a private jet for the Minister so he\ncould attend amid his packed schedule,\u201d said the Head of the Ministry of\nReligious Affairs\u2019 Public Relations and Communications Bureau, Thobib Al\nAsyhar, in Jakarta on Monday (16\/2), as reported on the ministry\u2019s\nofficial website.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll transport arrangements for the journey were prepared by the\norganiser,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Thobib explained that the Balai Sarkiah building, located in\nSabintang subdistrict, is projected to become a new epicentre for\nreligious and social activities in South Sulawesi. The building will\nserve as a centre for community empowerment.<\/p>\n
According to Thobib, Nasaruddin continued to serve the community even\non a public holiday. In his address in Takalar, Nasaruddin also\nexpressed appreciation for the OSO family\u2019s role in community\nempowerment.<\/p>\n
The building is expected to contribute to religious education and\neconomic empowerment of the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Minister stated that the government greatly appreciates the role\nof community figures who independently build religious infrastructure.\nThe Balai Sarkiah is not merely a building, but a symbol of\ncollaboration to strengthen the values of social concern within\nsociety,\u201d Thobib said.<\/p>\n
The inauguration of the Balai Sarkiah was attended by OSO and his\nfamily, Takalar Regent Mohammad Firdaus Daeng Manye, and members of the\nSouth Sulawesi Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).\nApproximately 200 religious and community leaders were also present.<\/p>\n
The inauguration began with the signing of an inscription plaque by\nthe Chairwoman of the Foundation\u2019s Board of Trustees, Serviati Oesman,\naccompanied by Nasaruddin. Beyond the physical inauguration, the event\nalso marked the commencement of the building\u2019s social function through\nthe handover of a Baznas decree to the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) of\nthe KN Foundation.<\/p>\n
KPK Response<\/p>\n
Following the acceptance of the private jet facility, the Corruption\nEradication Commission (KPK) expressed its hope that Nasaruddin Umar\nwould provide a direct explanation to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be welcome if he could respond and account for this without\nhaving to be invited or summoned,\u201d said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at\nhis office in Jakarta on Wednesday (18\/2).<\/p>\n
Setyo said Nasaruddin could also visit the KPK\u2019s Deputy for\nPrevention and Monitoring to explain the matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere [at the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring] is the\nDirectorate of Gratification and Public Services, which can receive and\nprovide clarity regarding the issues currently circulating,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Following that, Setyo explained, the KPK could follow up by\nconducting an analysis or review.<\/p>\n
