Tarakan, North Kalimantan \u2014 Herman, a member of the Regional\nRepresentative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI) in Tarakan,\nstated on Monday his full support for the development of the creative\nindustry in North Kalimantan Province, including the music sub-sector\ndriven independently by the youth.<\/p>\n
This support was conveyed by Herman after attending the \u2018Rock on the\nStreet Volume 4\u2019 event, organised by the North Kalimantan musicians\u2019\ncommunity, specifically in Tarakan City, on Sunday (17\/5). According to\nhim, the event demonstrates the immense potential of the younger\ngeneration in North Kalimantan to create independent and creative spaces\nfor expression.<\/p>\n
\u201cCollective movements such as this show that the youth of North\nKalimantan possess great potential and are independent in creating\nspaces for expression,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Herman believes that positive and productive creative activities can\nserve as a bulwark for the younger generation, protecting them from drug\nabuse and other forms of juvenile delinquency. \u201cWhen creative spaces are\nwidely opened, their energy is channelled into things that build\ncharacter and the regional creative economy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He further noted that the development of the creative industry\nrequires not only support from the DPD RI but also the involvement of\nlocal and central governments. \u201cOf course, creative industry activities\nlike this are supported not only by the DPD RI but also by local and\ncentral governments,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
