        "content": "<p>Aimas (ANTARA) - The Southwest Papua Regional Police have detained\nfour suspects in the alleged premeditated murder of three civilians in\nTambrauw Regency on 16 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Head of Public Relations for the Southwest Papua Regional\nPolice, Commissioner Jenny Hengkelare, stated in Aimas, Sorong Regency,\non Monday, that the four suspects with initials GY, YY, MY, and EY have\nbeen held in the detention room at Sorong Police Resort since Saturday\n(4\/4).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe four suspects surrendered themselves to the police and are now\ndetained to be held accountable for their actions,\u201d Jenny said.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that the suspects\u2019 surrender was not solely due to\npolice coercion but involved the roles of various parties, including\ncommunity leaders, the local government, the Tambrauw Regency DPRD, and\nthe Papua branch of the National Human Rights Commission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not merely the result of forceful police efforts, but the\ninvolvement of various parties that encouraged the suspects to turn\nthemselves in,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of the General Criminal Investigation\nDirectorate at the Southwest Papua Regional Police, Senior Commissioner\nArdy Yusuf, stated that there are a total of 10 suspects in the murder\ncase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFour (suspects) have been detained, while the other six are still\nlisted as wanted persons (DPO),\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the investigation results, Jenny said, there were\napproximately 13 people at the crime scene (TKP) with different roles,\nranging from planners to executors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree others are witnesses because their roles are not yet known,\nfour suspects have been detained, while the other six are still DPOs,\u201d\nshe detailed.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that some suspects used firearms and sharp weapons in the\nattack that resulted in the victims\u2019 deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe roles of the perpetrators vary, from coordinating, providing\ninformation, to directly attacking the victims,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are charged with multiple articles related to\npremeditated murder, group assault, and abuse causing death, primarily\nunder Article 459 and\/or Article 469 paragraphs (2) and (1), and\nsubsidiarily under Article 262 paragraphs (4), (3), (2), (1), in\nconjunction with Article 466 paragraphs (3), (2), (1) of the Criminal\nCode (KUHP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe maximum penalty is up to 20 years in prison,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny emphasised that the police will continue to hunt down the\nfugitives and ensure the legal process runs according to applicable\nregulations.<\/p>",
