Regional elections a waste?<\/p>\n

There have been reports about the rejection of the results in
\nmany of the regional elections marked by mobs ravaging public
\noffices. As a layman, I feel disturbed by these incidents.<\/p>\n
The cost of repair following such destruction will be taken
\nfrom the state treasury or regional budgets, which really need
\nthe money to construct public facilities or support poor people.<\/p>\n
Questions can also be addressed to the House of
\nRepresentatives, which decided on the system of regional
\nelections: Did the legislative body anticipate the consequences
\nof its decision? Did it calculate the wasting of funds for the
\nelections?<\/p>\n
I am sure tens of trillions of rupiah have been and will be
\nspent on the elections, money that could have been used for free
\neducation or a children's nourishment program.<\/p>\n
Also, with the average so far of just about 57 percent
\nparticipation at the polls, did the House estimate the rate of
\nrejection of election results and the damage caused by such
\nviolence? Did it calculate the trillions of rupiah to be
\nembezzled?<\/p>\n
