Regent's office worth billions<\/p>\n
TUAL, Southeast Maluku: Governor M. Akib Latukonsina told
\nSoutheast Maluku Regent H.A. Rahayaan on Thursday that his new
\noffice building, worth Rp 5.8 billion (US$2.55 million), should
\nnot make him forget his duties.<\/p>\n
\"Such a luxurious office in eastern Indonesia should, instead,
\ndrive you to increase productivity,\" Latukonsina said when he
\nopened the building, Antara reported on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Among the challenges the regent needs to handle are the 273
\nvillages whose residents are still living in poverty, and the
\npoor quality of human resource in the regency.<\/p>\n
\"This building is important because it shows that the
\nprovincial administration cares enough to provide facilities
\nwhich give employees pleasant working conditions,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The building, started in 1990, consists of a main building,
\nrooms and facilities for a number of agencies, and a cafeteria.
\nThe money to construct the building was obtained from the
\nregion's income as well as from the provincial administration.
\nThe 6,660-square-meter building stands on of a 27,825-meter-plot
