JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2014 The legal representative of the perpetrator who\nassaulted Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party\n(PSI) Ronald A. Sinaga, alias Bro Ron, stated that the victim had\nuttered racially tinged remarks during the altercation at the MPP law\nfirm office in Menteng, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, after both parties sat down together for mediation, it\nwas revealed that the statement had no context or intention to insult\nany particular ethnic group or race.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding the racism issue, we need to set the record straight as it\nhas been widely circulated. In the mediation process, discussions, and\nclarifications we conducted, we found the fact that there were indeed\nwords that, if understood without context, could be seen as tending\ntowards that,\u201d Tegar told reporters at the Menteng Metro Police Sector\noffice on Thursday (7\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this meeting, context was provided, so we could understand that\nthe intention was not in that direction (insult), thus allowing this\npeace to take place,\u201d Tegar explained.<\/p>\n
Tegar also corrected the mistaken assumption from Bro Ron\u2019s side, who\nhad previously thought his clients\u2019 arrival at the scene was as hired\nthugs.<\/p>\n
\u201cBro Ron misunderstood that these friends came not with the\nintentions as accused so far, not thuggery, not hired muscle. Of course,\nwe do not condone violence in any form,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
The legal team conveyed an apology for the violent actions that had\nalready occurred due to the misunderstanding.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also express our apologies because some of our younger colleagues\nhave carried out such actions. We have reached the point where we\nforgive each other and withdraw the reports. We are both gracious about\nit. Bro Ron withdraws his report, and we withdraw ours,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe most important emphasis is that the trigger was indeed the\nutterance of those words, but the context\u2014that\u2019s what was missed. After\nit was explained and so on, we understood, and yes, we have resolved\nit,\u201d Abdul stated.<\/p>\n
When asked for more details about the origin of those words, Tegar\nsaid it was purely due to emotions on the ground when the audience\nheated up.<\/p>\n
However, he declined to explain in detail what the exact words were\nand how the explanation went during the mediation between the two\nparties.<\/p>\n
