Reform-minded or power hungry?<\/p>\n

I am confused by quite a few of Amien Rais's statements quoted
\nin the media. On whose side is he? Is he just a politician
\nchasing power or is he consistent as a radical reformist?<\/p>\n
The following calls for comment: First, his attitude is
\nreflected in ideas that give an impression of jealousy.
\nAdditionally, he is not willing to accept reality. His ideas
\ninclude the necessity of an examination for presidential
\ncandidates, an alternative president, and -- most controversially
\n-- the central axis faction.<\/p>\n
Second, it must be questioned if he is still imbued with the
\nspirit of reform, or has this already faded due to his excessive
\npersonal ambition so that he gives precedence to power over
\nnational interest.<\/p>\n
Amien Rais should be aware of all this. His stance can only
\nbenefit one of the political parties that will maintain the
\nstatus quo. He should reflect on one question, i.e. is he willing
\nto allow his ardent spirit for reform to vanish because the next
\ngovernment will emerge from the pro-status quo camp?<\/p>\n
