        "content": "<p>Reform justification for blasphemy?<\/p>\n<p>President B.J. Habibie said reforms do not intend to destroy<br>\nwhat the country has achieved these past decades. Reforms should<br>\nnot serve as a reason for people to blaspheme one another or<br>\nforce their own will on others.<\/p>\n<p>At present however, certain people have justified their<br>\ncrooked and depraved behavior in the name of reforms. Sadism and<br>\ncrimes have lately become a daily menu. Social values which have<br>\nbeen observed by the Indonesian people since independence have<br>\nfaded away.<\/p>\n<p>Religion -- which teaches us to love one another and condemn<br>\nviolence -- seems to have been forgotten. Ethics and morality<br>\nwhich people should uphold are considered unimportant.<\/p>\n<p>President Habibie&apos;s statement that people should return to<br>\ntheir moral principles thus needs to be meditated on.<\/p>\n<p>Reform is not a justification to disregard ethics and moral<br>\nprinciples taught by religion.<\/p>\n<p>-- Republika, Jakarta<\/p>",
