Jakarta (ANTARA) - Paragon Empties Station has introduced a “smart
dropbox” at a Transjakarta bus stop, allowing the public to collect used
packaging from personal care products for recycling, as an effort to
promote waste reduction in Jakarta.

Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH), Dudi
Gardesi Asikin, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that the involvement of the
industrial sector is vital in driving changes in consumption patterns
and more responsible waste management.

“With the increasing consumption of personal care products, the
amount of packaging also continues to rise. Therefore, it is necessary
to promote responsible consumption patterns, including ensuring that
packaging does not end up as waste,” he said.

According to him, waste issues in Jakarta remain a major challenge
that must be addressed quickly, directionally, and sustainably.
Currently, waste management policies are increasingly focused on
reduction at the source, rather than just handling downstream.

The presence of Paragon Empties Station is seen as one practical
solution that brings recycling facilities closer to people’s daily
activities, while also serving as a public education tool.

Meanwhile, Head of CSR and Corporate Communication at PT Paragon
Technology and Innovation, Suci Hendrina, explained that the programme
is designed to build new habits in packaging waste management.

Interestingly, the “dropbox” accepts packaging not only from Paragon
products but also from various other personal care brands. This is
expected to encourage broader public participation.

The placement at the Transjakarta Cakra Selaras Wahana (CSW) stop in
South Jakarta was chosen to reach high resident mobility. Previously,
similar facilities have been introduced in various public spaces such as
campuses and mosques.

“If we care about our appearance, we should also care about the
environment. We want to make it easier for the public to manage
packaging waste, while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable
Jakarta,” she said.
",
