        "content": "<p>Reduce TV levies!<\/p>\n<p>From Pikiran Rakyat<\/p>\n<p>The community and media have voiced many complaints about TV<br>\nlevies. Some wish the levies would be abolished, others want them<br>\nreduced.<\/p>\n<p>Government-owned TVRI should actually be financed by the state<br>\nbudget. Apparently there is no fund in the budget for TV<br>\noperations. So, there is a levy on every TV set.<\/p>\n<p>The government wants each citizen to obligingly pay the levy.<br>\nHowever, there are many reasons why people are reluctant to pay<br>\nthe levy, one is the high amount which most people find<br>\nburdensome.<\/p>\n<p>I appeal to the government (the President, the information and<br>\nfinance ministers) to reduce the levy by 50 percent, making it<br>\nthe same amount before the increase a few years ago.<\/p>\n<p>I think this would be reasonable. Besides, TVRI has now a 12.5<br>\npercent stake in the advertisement revenues of each of the five<br>\nprivate TV stations.<\/p>\n<p>I hope the government complies with my request.<\/p>\n<p>I also ask the House of Representatives to fight for our wish.<\/p>\n<p>YUYUN LISNAWATI<\/p>\n<p>Bandung, West Java<\/p>",
