        "content": "<p>Recreating culture: A spectrum of spectacles<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the year, Indonesia's diversity -- whether seen in<br>\nits ethnic cultures or in its cultural forms -- has found the<br>\nspotlight on a variety of stages. At the same time, the country's<br>\naudiences have been treated to performers and groups from abroad,<br>\nresulting in a true spirit of cultural exchange.<\/p>\n<p>From the Java Jazz festival to the Jakarta International Film<br>\nFestival, from the Utan Kayu to the Ubud literary festivals, from<br>\nexhibitions of local artists abroad and to the CP Biennale, and<br>\nto all the budding productions and exhibits across the<br>\narchipelago, Indonesia's arts scene has brimmed over to make a<br>\nmark, nationally and internationally, mostly through private and<br>\nindividual means.<\/p>\n<p>Here, we take a look at some of the performances that have<br>\ngraced the year -- and through them, at the country's potential<br>\nin the year ahead for defining -- and recognizing -- its own<br>\nunique cultural scene as a fusion of the traditional and the<br>\ncontemporary, the indigenous and the foreign.<\/p>\n<p>-- The Jakarta Post<\/p>\n<p>Photo A: Culture<\/p>\n<p>JP\/R.
