        "content": "<p>Records broken at world powerlifting meet<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The second day of the junior world powerlifting<br>\nchampionships in Nusa Dua, Bali saw 13 records shattered as<br>\nRussia kept its huge overall lead at the four-day meet.<\/p>\n<p>Russian musclewoman Svetlana Telesva romped through with two<br>\nrecord breaking lifts which carried her to victory in the 40-<br>\nkilogram category on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>She squatted 140.5 kilograms and lifted a total of 350<br>\nkilograms to improve on the records of 140 kilograms and 330<br>\nkilograms, respectively, she set in Canada last October.<\/p>\n<p>Compatriot Elena Iamskikh continued the Russian show of force<br>\nwith two new world junior records in the 48-kilogram division.<br>\nIamskikh bettered her six-month-old total lift of 350 kilograms<br>\nwith a titanic 400-kilogram effort.<\/p>\n<p>Iamskikh&apos;s Taiwanese rival Ju Yang Shu stole a gold medal in<br>\nthe squat with a record breaking lift of 145 kilograms.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Taiwanese Yeh Chao Chen dominated the 90-kilogram<br>\ncontest, shattering three records on her way to snatching three<br>\ngolds.<\/p>\n<p>Yeh scored 128.5 kilograms in the squat, 195 in the deadlift<br>\nand a total lift of 551 kilograms to best the records of 120<br>\nkilograms, 190 kilograms and 530 kilograms, respectively, she<br>\nestablished in the last meet.<\/p>\n<p>American Lesley Look denied Yeh a clean sweep as she won the<br>\nbench press event with a lift of 107 kilograms, two kilograms<br>\nheavier than the old record of 105 she set last year.<\/p>\n<p>The Antara news agency reported that the other new records<br>\nwere set by 75-kilogram lifter Anne Stiklesto of Norway and<br>\nGerman Eva Engskar from the 56-kilogram category. Stiklesto beat<br>\nher deadlift record of 211 kilograms with 215, while Engskar<br>\nproduced a new bench press record of 97.5 kilograms.<\/p>\n<p>Fielding Gusti Ayu Rae Mulyati, Agustina and Puji Heryati,<br>\nhost Indonesia racked up three golds and five silvers yesterday<br>\nto remain a distant second, far behind Russia&apos;s 18 golds, five<br>\nsilvers and six bronzes.
