The Advocacy Team for Democracy has conveyed the stance of KontraS\nDeputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus regarding the military auditor\u2019s plan to\nvisit his client at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta on\nTuesday, 12 May 2025. TAUD representative Airlangga Julio stated that\nAndrie refuses visits from military institutions as a form of consistent\nrejection of his case being tried in a military court.<\/p>\n
\u201cAndrie Yunus has been consistent from the start until now in\nrejecting all processes in the military court and refusing visits from\nanyone from the TNI institution,\u201d Julio said at RSCM in Jakarta on\nMonday.<\/p>\n
Julio emphasised that TAUD, as Andrie\u2019s legal representatives, will\nconvey the client\u2019s refusal to the military auditor. He stated that TAUD\nis not attempting to obstruct the auditor\u2019s efforts to visit Andrie.\nHowever, they are acting in accordance with Andrie\u2019s wishes, who is\nstill receiving treatment for recovery from burns and eye injuries\ncaused by being doused with acid.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will convey that Andrie Yunus does not wish to meet. Then, if the\nvictim as a patient does not consent, it would be the military auditor\nforcing entry, not us blocking it,\u201d Julio said.<\/p>\n
According to Julio, to date, neither TAUD nor Andrie has received a\nsummons for Andrie\u2019s attendance at the military court, which has already\nheld two sessions. The summons for Andrie was only conveyed by the\nmilitary auditor through the Witness and Victim Protection Agency.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis indicates that from the outset, the military court process does\nnot understand proper, fair law enforcement that favours the victim,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
This morning, former Corruption Eradication Commission investigator\nNovel Baswedan visited Andrie and commented on the court process for the\nacid attack case at Jakarta\u2019s Military Court II-07. Novel, who was also\na victim of an acid attack, deeply regrets the military judge\u2019s\nstatement describing the TNI soldier\u2019s actions against Andrie as mere\nmischief.<\/p>\n
According to him, the military judge\u2019s way of thinking damages common\nsense. Novel also emphasised that Andrie\u2019s refusal of the military\nauditor\u2019s visit must be respected.<\/p>\n
\u201cBasically, it\u2019s normal for a sick person to be visited. And of\ncourse, the visitor is someone desired and permitted by the sick person.\nBecause it shouldn\u2019t end up making the visit cause more harm,\u201d Novel\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Previously, the panel of judges at Jakarta\u2019s Military Court II-08\nrequested Andrie\u2019s presence as a witness in the trial of the acid attack\ncase against him, which implicates four members of the TNI Strategic\nIntelligence Agency (Bais TNI) as defendants. The order to present\nAndrie was issued by the judge during the first hearing with the agenda\nof reading the indictment at Jakarta\u2019s Military Court II-08 on\nWednesday, 29 April 2026.<\/p>\n
The judge initially asked for the reason why the victim had not yet\nbeen presented as a witness in the trial. In response to that question,\nthe military auditor explained that investigators from the TNI Central\nMilitary Police (Puspom TNI) had sent a summons for examination to\nAndrie via LPSK. The first summons was sent on 27 March 2026 and\nreceived a response on 31 March.<\/p>\n
The auditor stated that the second summons was sent on 3 April 2026\nand received a response from LPSK on 16 April 2026. However, LPSK, which\nprovides protection for Andrie, stated that the victim is currently\nstill undergoing physical and psychological medical treatment in\nhospital.<\/p>\n
The judge then emphasised that the auditor has the responsibility to\nensure the victim\u2019s interests are represented in the trial. According to\nthe judge, the victim\u2019s testimony is an important part of the proof\nprocess in the case.<\/p>\n
The judge stated that the victim\u2019s presence does not have to be\nphysical in the courtroom. He assessed that examination could be\nconducted virtually with LPSK accompaniment. The panel of judges ordered\nthe auditor to facilitate Andrie\u2019s presence in the next hearing.<\/p>\n
