A subsidiary of the Pelindo Terminal Petikemas subholding, PT IPC\nTerminal Petikemas (IPC TPK), reported positive growth in the early\nweeks of the second quarter 2026. By April 2026, the company\u2019s\nthroughput reached 1,159,575 TEUs, up 6.7% from the same period last\nyear (1,086,766 TEUs).<\/p>\n
This growth in operational performance aligns with the positive trend\nin national trade. Data from the Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded\nIndonesia\u2019s import value for January\u2013March 2026 rising 10.05%\nyear-on-year, with the national trade balance still in surplus of\nUS$5.55 billion.<\/p>\n
The most significant growth was seen in April 2026 monthly figures.\nContainer throughput in that month surged by 26.78% to 308,810 TEUs, up\nfrom 243,579 TEUs in April 2025.<\/p>\n
Senior Manager of the Corporate Secretariat at IPC TPK, Daniel\nSetiawan, said that the highest growth during April 2026 was contributed\nby the Tanjung Priok Port area in Jakarta. IPC TPK Area Tanjung Priok 2\nrecorded the highest growth at 36.7%, followed by Area Tanjung Priok 1,\nwhich grew 24.3%.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe growth was driven by the addition of ad hoc services and\nincreased cargo volumes from several shipping lines,\u201d Daniel stated in\nhis official remarks on Tuesday (19 May 2026).<\/p>\n
Besides Jakarta, positive growth was also recorded by IPC TPK Area\nPalembang, which rose 18.7%. The rise in the Sriwijaya region was driven\nby a rebound in export and import activity of the region\u2019s key\ncommodities, such as rubber, wood products, coconuts, and\ncinnamon-related cargo.<\/p>\n
This positive performance comes amid a challenging global macro\nenvironment. The global maritime supply chain remains shadowed by rising\nlogistics costs and route uncertainty due to the escalation of the\nconflict in the Middle East, prompting adjustments to several\ninternational shipping routes.<\/p>\n
In response to these dynamics, Daniel emphasised that the company\ncontinues to focus on standardising services and strengthening the port\ninfrastructure. In Sumatra, IPC TPK Teluk Bayur has recently formed a\nsynergy with PTP Nonpetikemas to optimise the use of berths and loading\nequipment. Meanwhile in Jambi, service optimisation is targeted at\nTerminal Talang Duku to streamline the export of cinnamon commodities to\ninternational markets.<\/p>\n
