Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD\nhas signalled a strong intention to expand its product line in Indonesia\nthrough its premium brand, Denza. One model being prepared is the Denza\nB5, which was previously introduced to the public at an automotive event\nin February.<\/p>\n
President Director of BYD Motor Indonesia, Eagle Zhao, stated that\nthe company is studying the right timing to bring the model to the\ndomestic market. According to him, the initial response from Indonesian\nconsumers to the vehicle has been quite significant.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirstly, thank you for your attention to our very specific model,\nthe Denza B5. Since its debut last February, we have truly gathered\nconsiderable interest from consumers,\u201d said Eagle Zhao during the BYD\nRamadhan Sportainment event in Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).<\/p>\n
The relatively high market interest has led the company to seriously\nconsider the timing of an official launch in Indonesia. However, Eagle\nhas not yet revealed the exact schedule for when the vehicle will be\nbrought to market.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very serious in considering when we can launch this model in\nIndonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition to the B5, BYD is also preparing other models from the\nDenza line for Indonesia. One that has already been confirmed is the\nDenza Z9 GT, the flagship model of the brand.<\/p>\n
Zhao assured that the vehicle will arrive in Indonesia this year,\nalthough not in the near term.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Z9 GT is one of the flagship models under the Denza brand. It is\nvery much confirmed that it will be launched in Indonesia this year,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
However, he stressed that the launch will not take place in the first\nhalf of this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot in the first semester, but at some point in the second\nsemester,\u201d added Zhao.<\/p>\n
The seriousness of Denza\u2019s expansion in Indonesia is also evident\nfrom the direct involvement of BYD\u2019s headquarters in communications with\nlocal media. Zhao noted that the company has even assigned a special\nrepresentative from headquarters to attend activities in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur headquarters is very serious in conversations with Indonesian\nmedia colleagues. For that reason, they have specially assigned a PR\nrepresentative from the headquarters to come here,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
He also signalled that new information will be shared soon, both\nregarding products and technology that will be brought to Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest with media colleagues who are very close to us, we will\nnot keep you waiting too long. We will meet again very soon,\u201d said\nZhao.<\/p>\n
This move demonstrates BYD\u2019s ambition to strengthen its position in\nthe national electric vehicle market, particularly in the more premium\nsegment through the Denza brand.
