        "content": "<p>Rattan smugglers foiled in Kendari<\/p>\n<p>KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Intelligence agents here have<br>\nfoiled an attempt to smuggle 130 metric tons of high-quality<br>\nrattan aboard the ships MV Kapili Putra and MV Teluk Kulisusu<br>\nbound for Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>\"They came across the two vessels anchored off the coast of<br>\nWandoka, on Wanci island, last week,\" the head of the provincial<br>\nforestry office, AR Idris, said here yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>After checking the ships' documents, Idris said the agents<br>\ndiscovered that the papers on the rattan were fake.<\/p>\n<p>The agents later took the vessels to Ereke village, Kulisusu<br>\nsubdistrict, and turned them over to local authorities for<br>\nfurther investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The owner of the rattan, estimated to be worth tens of<br>\nmillions of rupiah, has yet to be identified, he said as quoted<br>\nby Antara.<\/p>\n<p>Early last month, intelligence agents on sea patrol also<br>\nconfiscated 150 tons of rattan from two vessels as it was being<br>\nsmuggled to Singapore.<\/p>",
