        "content": "<p>The Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed that all abandoned\nmonorail pillars on Jalan HR Rasuna Said in South Jakarta have been cut\ndown and cleared. Redevelopment of the area is targeted for completion\nby June.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said there were a total of 109\nmonorail pillars previously standing along Rasuna Said. The cutting\nprocess was completed last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll 109 monorail pillars had been cut down and tidied up as of last\nSaturday,\u201d Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (24\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He said that following the removal of the pillars, the provincial\ngovernment would immediately begin further construction, including the\ndevelopment of pedestrian walkways, drainage repairs, and the addition\nof green spaces along the corridor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will begin construction of pedestrian paths, drainage channels,\nparks and so on. Hopefully it can all be completed by June,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Pramono is targeting a transformed Rasuna Said in time for the\ncommemoration of Jakarta\u2019s anniversary on 22 June. The redevelopment is\nexpected to make the area better organised, more pedestrian-friendly,\nand more aesthetically appealing.<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta monorail project had been abandoned for years, leaving\nconcrete pillars standing in the middle of the road. The pillars had\nlong drawn complaints from residents, who regarded them as an eyesore\nand a blight on the city\u2019s urban landscape.<\/p>\n<p>With the removal of the pillars now complete, the Jakarta Provincial\nGovernment is focusing on a comprehensive overhaul to turn the Rasuna\nSaid corridor into a more comfortable and representative urban\nspace.<\/p>",
