The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is accelerating the
transformation of the HR Rasuna Said corridor in South Jakarta into a
modern and functional showcase for the city. Governor Pramono Anung
stressed that the redevelopment of this key business artery goes beyond
footpath aesthetics, touching on fundamental environmental and mobility
aspects for residents.

During his inspection of the Rasuna Said area on Sunday (21/6),
Pramono revealed that the project is a comprehensive improvement effort.
In addition to the pedestrian walkways, which are nearly complete, the
arrangement of vegetation is receiving special attention to ensure it
provides tangible benefits for pedestrians.

“We will carry out the Rasuna Said redevelopment comprehensively. The
pedestrian walkways are now, alhamdulillah, almost entirely finished. I
have also requested that the trees planted be those that people can
utilise for walking comfortably, because I do not want the trees to be
mere accessories,” Pramono said.

Beyond road infrastructure, the water management sector is also a
priority. Pramono has instructed the Water Resources Agency (SDA) to
normalise the Cideng River that runs through the corridor. This step
includes replacing old sheet piling and arranging the riverbanks to
strengthen the area’s appearance, making it more orderly and
verdant.

According to him, Rasuna Said is the face of Jakarta and must
guarantee a sense of safety and comfort. “I am confident that later it
will show that the face of Jakarta in this place will become more
comfortable and safe,” he added.

Echoing the Governor, Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency, Heru
Suwondo, explained that supporting facilities in the pedestrian corridor
have been comprehensively designed. One important breakthrough is the
relocation of utility networks underground (SJUT) to eliminate the
cluttered appearance of overhead cables.

Heru emphasised that intermodal integration forms the backbone of
this project. The pedestrian walkways are now directly connected to
TransJakarta bus stops and LRT stations, making it easier for residents
to move around without obstacles.

“The footpaths we have built are complete. We have prepared benches,
and the utilities have been moved underground. The integration is also
good because the TransJakarta stops and access to the LRT are now
connected,” Heru concluded.
",
