Rapist gets nine years in jail<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The West Jakarta District Court sentenced an
\nunemployed man yesterday to nine years in jail for raping an
\nunderaged girl.<\/p>\n
Presiding judge Bagus Sugiri said the defendant, Martimus
\nTroby, 26, raped a 13-year-old girl in a house on Jl. Block B in
\nthe Merpati housing complex in Kalideres, West Jakarta, on July
\n19.<\/p>\n
Sugiri said the defendant had visited the house, belonging to
\nJusuf Sukeri, and met the victim, who worked as a housemaid.<\/p>\n
The victim, who had known the defendant for three weeks,
\nallowed him to enter the house, the judge said. They began
\nwatching television in the living room.<\/p>\n
Sugiri said Troby, a resident of Jl. Kumbang in the Pegadungan
\nsubdistrict, West Jakarta, began straggling the maid and forced
\nher to enter the bathroom.<\/p>\n
He told the girl to remove her dress and threatened to kill
\nher if she shouted for help, the judge said.<\/p>\n
Troby used his left hand to cover her mouth and raped the girl
\non the bathroom floor, he said.<\/p>\n
After raping the teenager, he returned to the living room and
\ncontinued watching television.<\/p>\n
Troby told the victim take a bath but she managed to escape
\nand told neighbors that she had been raped, he said. The
\ndefendant was later caught by local residents.<\/p>\n
He was charged under Article 285 of the Criminal Code and the
\nprosecutor demanded he serve a 10-year jail. (jun)<\/p>",
