        "content": "<p>Ramos reshuffles cabinet in Manila<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (Reuter): Philippine President Fidel Ramos announced a<br>\ncabinet reshuffle yesterday, naming a new labor secretary and<br>\npromoting several key aides.<\/p>\n<p>Leonardo Quisumbing, a deputy executive secretary in Ramos'<br>\nstaff, was named Labor Secretary in a statement by the Philippine<br>\nleader. Quisumbing replaces Jose Brillantes, who was appointed<br>\nambassador to Malaysia,<\/p>\n<p>The appointments will take effect on Jan. 16.<\/p>\n<p>Two other officials, Luis Liwanag and Renato Corona, were<br>\nnamed deputy executive secretaries in the office of Ramos. They<br>\nwill be involved in the day-to-day running of the government.<\/p>\n<p>The current Philippine ambassador to Malaysia, Alberto<br>\nEncomienda, is likely to be posted to Singapore, diplomats said.<\/p>\n<p>Ramos has accepted the resignation of Interior Secretary<br>\nRafael Alunan, but no replacement has been found.<\/p>",
