        "content": "<p>Ramos moves to save project<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): President Fidel Ramos yesterday moved to save<br>\nJapanese funding for a 1.3 billion peso (US$54.17 million)<br>\nirrigation project in the southern Philippines, which has been<br>\ndisrupted by Moslem guerrilla violence.<\/p>\n<p>Ramos directed Executive Secretary Teofisto Guingona to assure<br>\nJapanese Ambassador to the Philippines Yoshifumi Matsuda and<br>\nJapan's Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) officials that<br>\nthe government is addressing the peace and order situation at the<br>\nproject site, a presidential palace statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Ramos has deployed an army engineering unit to take over the<br>\nconstruction work in Carmen town, which he is scheduled to visit<br>\nFriday, it added.<\/p>",
