Rambing brothers win boxing title for C. Java<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Rambing brothers, Arthur and Sonny, inspired
\nCentral Java's domination at the Golden Gloves amateur boxing
\nchampionships in Cirebon, West Java.<\/p>\n
Arthur and his elder brother Sonny triumphed in the
\nbantamweight and lightweight divisions to lead their province's
\nromp with three gold medals and two bronzes. Central Java took
\nthe other gold from East Timor-born Feliciano da Costa who beat
\nformer teammate Miguel Listinho in the light flyweight final.<\/p>\n
Teenage Arthur, whose boxing skills were nurtured by father
\nand former national champion Sutan, also won the favorite boxer
\naward for his brilliant debut at the annual championships.<\/p>\n
Host West Java grabbed most of the medals, a gold, four
\nsilvers and three bronzes, to finish no better than third in the
\nmedal race behind East Timor. West Java took some consolation,
\nhowever, when featherweight M. Alvarizi was named the best boxer
\nof the tournament which ended on Monday.<\/p>\n
East Timor, one of the country's leading boxing powerhouses,
\ngrabbed two golds through flyweight Fransisco Pinto and light
\nmiddleweight Nelson Victor Talise.<\/p>\n
The championships were jointly organized by the Indonesian
\nAmateur Boxing Association and the Indonesian Journalists
