        "content": "<p>Rachman faces further claim of hiding wealth<\/p>\n<p>Tertiani ZB Simanjuntak, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>A little-known state prosecutor has accused embattled Attorney<br>\nGeneral M.A. Rachman of further irregularities in his wealth<br>\nreport.<\/p>\n<p>Kito Irkamini told journalists on Thursday that Rachman<br>\nordered him to buy a Kia Carnival car with just Rp 100 million<br>\nand a Toyota Soluna sedan with no down payment at all.<\/p>\n<p>\"I had to cover the balance for the Carnival purchase myself,<br>\nbut Rachman declared he owed money on the vehicles in his wealth<br>\nreport. He has also yet to repay my Rp 120 million to buy the<br>\nSoluna,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He was accompanied by three high-profile corruption defense<br>\nlawyers: Hotma Sitompul, Ruhut Sitompul and Tommy Sihotang.<\/p>\n<p>Kita, who built Rachman's controversial house in Graha Cinere,<br>\nDepok, claimed Rachman still owed him Rp 1 billion, including Rp<br>\n480 million for the house.<\/p>\n<p>\"He demoted me to be the head of general crimes division in<br>\nSungai Liat prosecutors' office in Bangka-Belitung province, but<br>\nthe post is not vacant,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He promised to reveal everything he knew about Rachman to the<br>\nPublic Servants' Wealth Audit Commission (KPKPN) officials on<br>\nFriday.<\/p>\n<p>Rachman is under fire amid corruption allegations and<br>\nallegations he misreported details in his wealth report to KPKPN,<br>\nincluding failing to disclose the luxury house.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Kito, KPKPN will also interview Rachman's<br>\ndaughter Chairunnisa, a dentist, to clarify details of the<br>\nownership of the house.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, KPKPN questioned businessman Husain Tanoto who<br>\nclaimed to have bought the Rp 5 billion house from Chairunnisa<br>\nlast January for Rp 950 million in cash.<\/p>\n<p>\"But the ownership had yet been transferred from Chairunnisa<br>\nto Husain, because the former still has to renovate the fences<br>\nand the staircase,\" KPKPN official Rudjuan Dartono said.<\/p>\n<p>However, he said, Chairunnisa claimed payment for the house<br>\nwas in form of medical equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\"Chairunnisa has to clarify further next Tuesday.\"<\/p>\n<p>Last week, KPKPN summoned Rachman to explain about the<br>\nundeclared house.<\/p>\n<p>Rachman said the house had been given to his oldest daughter<br>\nChairunnisa who later sold it to Husain Tanoto because she needed<br>\nmoney to establish her own medical practice.<\/p>\n<p>A KPKPN investigation team also questioned where funds from<br>\ntwo bank accounts were sourced. One account contains Rp 545.6<br>\nmillion and the second US$29,600. The money was deposited in the<br>\naccounts between 1999 and 2001 while Rachman was still the deputy<br>\nattorney general for general crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Rachman told the investigation team that some of the money was<br>\n\"thank you notes\" from East Java businesspeople.<\/p>\n<p>As pressure mounts on Rachman to step down, top prosecutors at<br>\nthe Attorney General's Office on Thursday expressed support for<br>\nRachman.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are solid and maintain support for the leadership of<br>\nRachman,\" acting vice attorney general Bachtiar Fachri Nasution<br>\nsaid during a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Also present were deputy attorney general for intelligence<br>\nBasrief Arief, deputy attorney general for special crimes Haryadi<br>\nB.
