Quilt contest to mark AIDS Day<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A parade, a quilt contest, and a party are among
\nthe events which will mark International AIDS Day which is Dec.
\n1.<\/p>\n
The quilt contest will be held tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 4:30
\np.m. at the Ancol Dreamland's Art Market, North Jakarta. Those
\nwanting to participate must enter their designs first. Designs
\nwill be accepted until this afternoon, one of the organizers, the
\nPelita Ilmu Foundation, said.<\/p>\n
The winning entries will be displayed on Sunday with an
\nexhibition of T-shirts, hats and other items from several non-
\ngovernmental organizations working on HIV\/AIDS issues.<\/p>\n
On Saturday night, the Cafe Batavia will hold a fund raising
\nparty called STAND!, organized the AIDS Indonesia Foundation.<\/p>\n
A parade, which will feature a mini-train, will start Sunday
\nmorning at Pondok Indah, South Jakarta and end and the Ancol
\nDreamland.<\/p>\n
The parade is part of an event, called \"Arak-arakan AIDS '96\",
\nwhich Governor Surjadi Soedirdja will open. It is organized by
\nYayasan AIDS Indonesia and the city municipality.<\/p>\n
A Betawi folk theater performance called \"One World One Hope\"
\nwill be held after the parade's arrival in Ancol. An AIDS
\ndiscussion is will be held after the performance. Speakers
\ninclude model Paquita Widjaja.<\/p>\n
At noon Sunday people can enter a slogan contest for AIDS\/HIV
\nawareness campaign. Winners will be announced late afternoon.<\/p>\n
In the evening a candlelight gathering will honor those who
\nhave died of the HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n
The events will end with an award presentation for people
\ndedicated to HIV\/AIDS problems, and a concert. (anr)<\/p>",
