The Jakarta Military Court panel of judges questioned several matters\nin the trial of the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie\nYunus. The judge raised issues regarding the defendants\u2019 relationship\nwith Andrie and CCTV footage.<\/p>\n
As is known, the military prosecutor charged four TNI soldiers with\nthrowing acid on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The military prosecutor\nstated that the defendants carried out the act due to annoyance with\nAndrie.<\/p>\n
The indictment hearing was held at the East Jakarta Military Court on\nWednesday (29\/4\/2026). The four defendants are Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko\n(ES), First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi (BHW), Captain Nandala Dwi\nPrasetyo (NDP), and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka (SL).<\/p>\n
The prosecutor stated that the defendants learned of Andrie on 16\nMarch 2025 when Andrie entered and interrupted a meeting discussing\nrevisions to the TNI Law held by the DPR at the Fairmont Hotel in South\nJakarta. The defendants viewed Andrie\u2019s actions as insulting the TNI\ninstitution.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor said that Serda Edi and Lettu Budhi met at the\nAl-Ikhlas Mosque of Bais TNI on 9 March 2026. The prosecutor mentioned\nthat Edi showed a viral video of Andrie that was considered to forcibly\nenter the meeting room at the Fairmont Hotel during discussions on\nrevisions to the TNI Law.<\/p>\n
The meeting of the defendants continued on 11 March 2026 at the Denma\nBais TNI hall. At that time, said the prosecutor, the first defendant\nagain expressed annoyance towards Andrie, who was seen as accusing the\nTNI of carrying out terror and being behind the riots at the end of\nAugust 2025.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor stated that the first defendant wanted to teach Andrie\na lesson as a deterrent effect. Then, the second defendant suggested the\nidea of throwing rust remover liquid.<\/p>\n
In short, the defendants gathered information on Andrie Yunus\u2019s\nactivities. They divided tasks during the acid throwing.<\/p>\n
Questions on Defendants\u2019 Account Regarding the Corrosive Liquid<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Military Court panel of judges requested that the\nprosecutor present a chemistry expert in the acid attack trial against\nKontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The judge said that expert testimony is\nimportant to prove the defendants\u2019 statements regarding the type of\nliquid thrown at Andrie.<\/p>\n
This was stated by the chief judge, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian\nIsnartanto, at the Jakarta Military Court on Wednesday (6\/5\/2026). The\nfour defendants in this case are defendant I Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko,\ndefendant II First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, defendant III\nCaptain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and defendant IV First Lieutenant Sami\nLakka.<\/p>\n
In this hearing, the military prosecutor presented Pabandya D 31\nPampers Dit B Bais TNI, Lieutenant Colonel Chk Alwi Hakim Nasution, as a\nwitness. Alwi is a TNI member who conducted the in-depth investigation\nor elicitation of the defendants.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter that, they admitted that the act was indeed carried out, the\nthrowing was done by Defendant I, Defendant II who was riding pillion,\nDefendants III and IV accompanying from behind,\u201d said Alwi.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey told that they threw it at Mr Andrie Yunus,\u201d replied Alwi.<\/p>\n
The judge then asked about the defendants\u2019 admission regarding the\nliquid thrown at Andrie Yunus. Alwi said the defendants admitted to\nthrowing a mixture of rust remover liquid and car battery acid.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat liquid did they throw?\u201d asked the judge.<\/p>\n
\u201cRust remover liquid, according to their admission to us,\u201d replied\nAlwi.<\/p>\n
\u201cMixed with?\u201d asked the judge.<\/p>\n
\u201cCar battery acid water,\u201d replied Alwi.<\/p>\n
The judge said that the content of the liquid needs to be explained\nin court. The judge ordered the military prosecutor to present a\nchemistry expert in the trial.<\/p>\n

The judge said that a chemistry expert who can explain the reaction\nof the mixture of rust remover liquid and car battery acid. The judge\nsaid that the reaction and the level of danger of the liquid mixture\nneed to be explained in court.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow do we determine its content, what it is like, and then what the\nreaction is if it hits the skin. Whether it is dangerous, fatal, or not.\nWell, the expert knows that, we can\u2019t,\u201d said the judge.<\/p>\n
Questions on Defendants\u2019 Relationship with Andrie Yunus<\/p>\n
Alwi explained the condition of the burns turning black experienced\nby Edi and Budhi. Alwi was the personnel who conducted the initial\nin-depth investigation of the two defendants on 17 March.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe kept asking, for Defendant I we suspected, we asked him to open\nhis shirt and we saw there was a black burn on the right chest. For\nDefendant II, we only saw on the right hand,\u201d said Alwi.<\/p>\n
The judge continued to ask what the defendants\u2019 admissions were\nduring the initial investigation. Alwi said the defendants admitted to\nthrowing acid at Andrie because they were annoyed with the interruption\nincident at the meeting on the TNI Bill at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta,\nwhich occurred in 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is their business with Andrie Yunus? What is their business\nwith the TNI Bill? What is their business with filing a judicial review\nto the MK? What is the correlation for them to do that? They are just\nDenma soldiers,\u201d asked the judge.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir admission to us was because they were hurt seeing Andrie\nYunus\u2019s treatment when forcing entry into the closed meeting, so the\ndefendants felt hurt,\u201d replied Alwi.<\/p>\n

The judge then asked whether there was an order that led the\ndefendants to carry out the acid throwing. The judge also asked whether\nthere was a special operation behind the acid throwing at Andrie\nYunus.<\/p>\n
