        "content": "<p>Quake victims asked to resettle<\/p>\n<p>AMBON, Maluku: The provincial administration calls on<br>\nresidents of Obi Island whose houses were damaged in an<br>\nearthquake in October and last month to resettle to other areas<br>\nunder the state-sponsored transmigration program.<\/p>\n<p>\"The government is ready to resettle the quake victims if they<br>\nwant,\" Vice governor R.S. Soeranto said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\"But if islanders refuse the government's offer, they should<br>\nbuild tremor-proof houses because the island is very prone to<br>\nearthquake,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said around 500 houses built in a transmigration settlement<br>\narea in Toliwang, Halmahera, and hundreds of hectares of land<br>\nwould be earmarked for the quake victims if they were willing to<br>\njoin the transmigration program.<\/p>\n<p>Around 670 houses, mosques, churches and school buildings were<br>\nbadly damaged when a strong earthquake jolted the island in<br>\nOctober and last month.<\/p>\n<p>No human casualties were reported in the natural disaster,<br>\nAntara reported yesterday.
